Ensure the highest levels of reliability and availability of your IT infrastructure and data.
Many small to midsized businesses today still utilize tape as their primary source of backup. There are concerns about the reliability of the backup and the security of the data contained on those tapes. When asked, the majority of the companies we speak to have not tested those backups and have not validated a restore. Can your company recover in the event of a significant data loss?
One of the biggest reasons for tape backup was that it was less expensive as a backup resource than disk drives. Advancements in technology have lowered costs of disk storage to a point where is not only competes with tape technology it often lowers the total cost of ownership. Couple that with the emergence of image (full snapshot) backup software and increased network speeds companies; can move more data locally faster than ever before.
Imaging technologies also have lowered the recovery time objective (RTO) by allowing a full bare metal restore of a server to occur in hours instead of days.
Often organizations send the backup tape home with the owner, IT manager, or even the Office Administrator. This is an unsecure and ineffective way to move data off-site. If that tape gets lost you have put your company's greatest asset, its intellectual property at risk. Additionally, if your tape includes any confidential personal or client's data you are now responsible for the loss of that data. This can cost your significant money not to mention the risk to your company's reputation. This process needs to be automated to succeed.
The pcnRecovery Suite solution are services that address three major concerns:
